No matter how big or small a business, I believe that everyone should be doing their bit to minimise the impact they are having on the environment.
As I work in a clinical environment there is some unavoidable waste that is generated in order to maintain safety and hygiene standards.
I am however committed to continuously improving the sustainability of my acupuncture practice and have implemented the following measures so far:
Selected a green energy supplier for my home practice
Insulated the walls of my home practice clinic room to minimise the need for heating
Sourced recycled, unbleached couch roll and biodegradable wipes
Moved to a fully paperless clinic
Whenever possible I use blister packs of multiple needles to reduce clinical waste
I cycle or walk to the Sunflower Centre clinic and whenever possible use public transport for work-related travel further afield
I use only non-toxic and refillable cleaning products
Donate to a carbon offsetting organisation to off-set the currently unavoidable carbonised aspects of my practive
There is always more to do, and my next steps are:
Researching more eco-friendly options for needles without compromising on quality and safety
Finding a sustainable bank to manage my business finances
