Clare Moss, BA (Hons), MSc, LicAc. MBAcC

I am a fully qualified classical acupuncturist, having graduated with distinction from The Acupuncture Academy in Leamington Spa. I was highly commended for my clinical practice, and trained under the supervision of Claire Dabreo (https://www.thelondonacupuncturist.co.uk/).

I have trained extensively in Chinese medical and acupuncture theory including Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), but with a focus on the Five Element approach as taught by J.R.Worlsey. I have also been trained in Western medical trigger point acupuncture to treat muscular-skeletal issues. I am a member of the British Acupuncture Council and practice according to their code of ethics and safe practice.

I frequently undertake Continuous Professional Development (CPD) to extend and deepen my understanding and knowledge, including:

  • Pregnancy acupuncture (with Paul Johnson)

  • Mai Jing Pulse diagnosis (with Jamie Hamilton)

  • Five Element workshops (with Nora Franglen and Guy Caplan)

  • Korean Auricular Therapy (with Jong Baik)

  • Applied Channel Theory (with Jamie Hamilton and Jonathan Chang)

Approach and philosophy

“Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.”
~ World Health Organisation ~

I am passionate about this system of medicine and witness every day in clinic the profound ways in which a holistic approach can support people back to health. I believe that nothing is better at finding balance than nature itself, and we are no different. Our lifestyles, stress, emotions, injuries, and illnesses can cause our systems to become out of balance which then manifests as one or more symptoms that often seem unrelated. By unblocking and nourishing a patient’s energy at a constitutional level, acupuncture supports the body’s natural healing capacities and nature then takes over and does the rest. Whilst acupuncture alone can be very powerful, I will also make recommendations for lifestyle changes such as sleep patterns, diet and stress management where I feel it will help.

My background

“Physician, heal thyself”
~
Luke 4:23 ~

Prior to becoming an acupuncturist I had a busy and successful career as a management consultant and contract business analyst and delivery manager. Whilst rewarding on many levels, I also found the work stressful and unfulfilling and it was making me ill and unhappy, so I quit in search of something that felt more in alignment with my nature and my values.

My journey took me to Asia where I trained in several practices including meditation and qigong, and started my Chinese medical training when I returned to the UK. I consider myself a Buddhist and regularly practice Vipassana (insight) meditation in the Theravadan Thai Forest Tradition which I find hugely beneficial for my own mental, physical and spiritual well-being, and also for my work with patients and as an acupuncturist.

I moved to Brockley in 2006 and have been an active member of the community since then, helping with the redevelopment of the area around the station including the planting, and for many years helping to organise the much loved Brockley Christmas Market on Coulgate St.
